The Director of Human Resources is responsible for leading and executing the Firm’s HR strategy while managing the day-to-day HR function. This role serves as a trusted advisor to Partners and Managers, ensuring alignment between business objectives and people strategy. The ideal candidate brings a balance of strategic leadership, operational execution, and strong employee relations experience, with a solid understanding of the unique dynamics of a public accounting environment, including seasonal workloads and partner-driven structures.
What You'll Be Owning:
Partner with Firm leadership to develop and execute HR strategies that support internal and external growth, retention, and operational efficiency
Provide guidance to Partners and Managers on workforce planning and performance management
Lead initiatives related to employee engagement, culture, and retention
Serve as the primary resource for employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, investigations, and disciplinary actions
Advise managers on performance concerns, documentation, and improvement plans
Ensure consistent and fair application of Firm policies
Oversee recruiting strategy for all positions, including experienced hires, campus recruiting and internships
Partner with department leaders to identify hiring needs and improve time-to-fill and candidate quality
Ensure a structured and effective onboarding experience
Manage and evaluate the Firm’s compensation structure, including salary benchmarking and bonus programs
Oversee benefits administration and vendor relationships
Provide recommendations to leadership on total rewards strategy
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
Maintain and update employee handbook and HR policies
Manage risk related to employee matters and advise leadership on best practices
Oversee HR processes including payroll coordination, employee records, and HRIS systems (Paychex, etc.)
Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and consistency
Develop and track key HR metrics (turnover, retention, hiring, etc.)
Support leadership development initiatives for Managers and emerging leaders
Identify training needs and coordinate internal or external learning opportunities
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth
What You'll Bring to the Table:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
10+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role
Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
Demonstrated experience in employee relations and conflict resolution
Experience managing HR operations in a small to mid-sized organization
Preferred:
Experience in public accounting, professional services, or similar environment
HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR)
Experience working in a partner-led or privately held firm
