District Partners is supporting a globally recognized professional services organization that is continuing to invest in modern engineering practices, software quality, and automation at scale. As application development accelerates and delivery teams expand their use of automated testing and CI/CD, the organization is seeking a highly technical SDET to help shape the future of quality engineering. This is an opportunity to architect automation frameworks, influence engineering standards, and drive measurable impact across mission-critical platforms used throughout the business.
Why You'll Actually Care:
Software quality is becoming an increasingly strategic priority across the organization as development teams continue modernizing applications and delivery processes. While automated testing capabilities exist today, leadership is looking to elevate quality engineering through stronger automation frameworks, deeper integration into the development lifecycle, and more scalable testing practices. This role sits at the center of that transformation and will play a key role in defining how software quality is measured, automated, and maintained moving forward.
The Basics:
We're seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to serve as a hands-on technical leader for automated testing and quality engineering initiatives. This individual will own test framework architecture, automation strategy, API validation, and quality engineering best practices across modern web applications and backend services. The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering skills with deep expertise in test automation, CI/CD, and application quality.
What You'll Be Owning:
Designing and maintaining enterprise-scale test automation frameworks utilizing Playwright and TypeScript
Building end-to-end, regression, integration, and API testing solutions across Angular and .NET application environments
Developing automated quality gates integrated into CI/CD pipelines to improve deployment reliability and release confidence
Creating reusable automation libraries, framework components, and testing utilities to improve engineering efficiency
Driving API testing strategy, including functional validation, integration testing, contract testing, and service-level verification
Implementing automated validation of complex business workflows, integrations, and data-intensive applications
Establishing testing standards, quality metrics, reporting, and coverage strategies across multiple development initiatives
Collaborating closely with software engineers to improve testability, reliability, and maintainability of applications
Supporting modernization efforts as deployment processes evolve toward GitHub Actions and cloud-native delivery practices
Ensuring testing practices, documentation, and traceability requirements align with a highly regulated operating environment
The Environment:
This is a highly visible individual contributor role within a lean engineering organization. You'll work closely with development teams, manual QA resources, and technology leadership while serving as one of the primary owners of automation strategy and execution. Success requires a self-starter who can balance multiple projects, make sound technical decisions, and operate independently while driving continuous improvement across engineering and quality practices.
What You Bring To The Table:
5+ years of experience as an SDET, Software Engineer in Test, or Test Automation Engineer
Expert-level experience with Playwright and TypeScript
Proven experience building and maintaining scalable automation frameworks from the ground up
Strong software engineering fundamentals and coding expertise
Experience testing Angular-based web applications
Experience validating .NET applications, APIs, and backend services
Deep expertise in API testing, REST services, authentication models, and integration testing
Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, and quality engineering best practices
Hands-on experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines
Experience with GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, source control, and release automation
Experience validating complex datasets, data transformations, and business-critical workflows
Strong documentation, test planning, and test case design experience
Experience with Jira, Confluence, and Agile software development environments
Prior experience within regulated, compliance-driven, or highly audited environments is strongly preferred
