OTJ Architecture: From Leadership Transition to a Finance Function Built for Growth
OTJ, a national architecture and design firm with 235+ employees across eight offices, was navigating a pivotal leadership transition. After unsuccessful efforts to replace its departing CFO, the firm needed immediate financial leadership — plus a long-term strategy to support its goal of growing revenue from $40M toward $100M.
District Partners first placed a top CFO advisory consultant to step in immediately, stabilize the finance function, and design a future-focused team structure. In parallel, our partner-led search team ran a confidential search — screening 14 candidates and presenting five finalists — to identify a permanent CFO with national A&D experience.
The permanent CFO was placed within weeks. More than three years later, that leader remains in the role — having fully overhauled OTJ's financial processes and positioned the firm for its next phase of growth.
I almost never use outside recruiters, but I knew I needed help with one of our most important roles — CFO. District Partners found us an amazing CFO, and they were transparent, reasonably priced, and on point throughout.
